Gateley Smithers Purslow are a multi-disciplinary independent private practice established in 1978. The firm is made up of building & quantity surveyors, civil & structural engineers and architects. The company has witnessed significant growth over the past 5-10 years, expanding from a team of 25 to over 120 and operating from 10 regional offices across the UK. In April 2022, Smithers Purslow was acquired by legal and professional services group, Gateley and now trade under the name Gateley Smithers Purslow.

The significant growth of the business accelerated the need for a consolidated knowledge and project management system. Flo10 was adopted across the practice to improve internal communications, collaboration and project quality & compliance.

Knowledge Management

One of the key challenges associated with business growth is maintaining company communication and consistency across all offices and departments. Their long-term plan is to move away from internal emails and messaging services and share most, if not all, company communications via Flo10.

Project Tracker

Prior to implementing Flo10, project monitoring was managed via complicated and lengthy spreadsheets which required time-consuming manual updates. With an average of 2000-3000 projects to manage a year, individual updates became unmanageable. This is where Flo10’s intelligent project tracker came in, allowing fast and efficient access to project workflows, information and progress reports.

Ellen explained that Gateley Smithers Purslow was looking for a ‘one-stop-shop’ whereby all relevant information relating to a project was in one place, not only improving efficiency but also making reporting and compliance straightforward.

Project Tracker has also improved employee engagement by setting clear goals and establishing accountability. Everyone in the team is able to track and manage their own projects from start to finish, receiving alerts when something is missing or overdue.
