Elliott Wood flip it with Flo10
Elliott Wood are a design-led structural and civil engineering practice operating from three UK offices. Known for an openness to doing things differently, they adopt a “flip it” mentality, looking for opportunities to think laterally and realise unexpected benefits.

Fiona Oades, Information & Project Manager at Elliott Wood explains: “We are different because we always question to try to improve things. This of course includes using the best technology. To drive more accurate and reliable results, we needed to make information more accessible to everyone at the click of a button!”
Prior to 2015, the practice had multiple bespoke databases alongside SharePoint and Autodesk Revit.
Following adding Flo10, landing pages now unite all the primary systems and provides the staff with the latest company, knowledge, and project information. Interactive dashboards give clearer insights into business, team, and project performance, while the new MyBoard page clearly prompts individuals on the required actions and provides an easier method of updating data.
Tracker has been introduced to offer a consistent approach to give certainty to project teams of what is expected, whilst offering management a simpler way of auditing QA and project progress.
Fiona’s advice to anyone embarking on the not so simple task of designing a company-wide information management system is to “Sketch-out and plan what you really need. The selection of systems should be mapped against the most important objectives of your business so all stakeholders can deliver the right solution”.
